Best Travel Trailer Storage and Organization Ideas for Dallas RV Owners

Why do people have cabinets? They’re everywhere: houses, businesses, even your car has a little glove box which is basically a tiny cabinet. Your trust travel trailer is no different. All of these have cabinets for one reason –  to store our stuff! We as humans have a lot of stuff and we need places to store it all. At Coach Specialists, we may cover a lot of RV and travel trailer repairs, but one thing we also know is organization. That is why we’ve compiled a list of the best travel trailer storage and organization ideas for you!

We know that when you take your travel trailer out on the road each season, you have important (and sometimes not so important) things to take with you. You have your kitchenware and plates, cups, napkins, and cleaning supplies. Then you have your home stuff – everything from blankets to pillows to books to movies to bathroom supplies to snacks and so much more. And because travel trailers and RVs don’t always have the most floor space, you need somewhere to put it all.

Best Travel Trailer Storage and Organization Ideas

One thing we are always excited to get working on at Coach are customized storage ideas for our clients. We have a specialized team of cabinetry workers who can custom make any type or size cabinets and storage units you need in your travel trailer. We can also help you with upgrading your current cabinets and storage units with new paints and parts. Anything to keep your travel trailer looking fresh and up-to-date!

1. Over the Toilet Cabinets/Shelves

This is one of the many forgotten places when it comes to travel trailer storage and organization. Many of our clients and other trailer owners think that because the space is so small, nothing can really be done to increase the usability. But we know you have things like hair dryers, makeup, toilet paper, and tissues you want to be able to keep in the bathroom. Adding small cabinets or a shelving unit is a great way to maximize the space above your toilet.

2. Under Cabinet Drawers

One of our favorite travel trailer storage and organization ideas is actually very simple. Adding a small drawer underneath existing cabinets is a great way to utilize your space more. Especially in the kitchen. Sometimes, after you fill your kitchen cabinets with your plates, cups, mugs, and other items, you have other items left over. These items are usually small like spices or snack packs and they don’t quite go with or fit in the other cabinets without being crushed and cluttered. Adding this small drawer underneath the main cabinet gives you enough room to house these smaller items.
And it won’t take up important space elsewhere as it fits underneath and out of the way. These drawers can be made of plastic, metal, or even wood and are super easy to install.

3. Under the Bed/Under Seating Storage

Yes! These travel trailer storage and organization ideas are simply a must. Why anyone wouldn’t use the space under a bed for storage in small spaces is insane. At Coach, we can help you turn that dark, dusty old unused space into beautiful cabinets to house everything from clothes to blankets to board games. We can create the custom cabinetry to match the styling throughout the rest of your trailer as well. Not only will these cabinets maximize your space, but they will add just a little bit of extra character and modernism to your trailer.
The same goes for storage under the kitchen table. Many great RVs and travel trailers have this great bench style seating but they weren’t made with anything underneath – just empty space! We can install great pull out drawers or create space for you to store items under these seats. They can be pulled out when you need something and put back when you’re done!

4. Skinny Sliding and End Cap Storage

One of the best-customized storage methods we’ve ever come across are taller, skinnier, or end cap style shelves/cabinets. These are so simple yet hold a TON of stuff. These styles are great for things like snacks, paper plates, plastic bags and so much more. Plus, they don’t take up a lot of space. They just attach to a wall or the end of an existing cabinet. They’re also great because they slide in and out just like the under the bed cabinets.

As you can see a lot of our favorite types of cabinets are super simple. Our technicians and specialty cabinetry workers are always ready to help with customization of travel trailer storage and organization cabinets and other ideas. We get so much repair and collision work, it’s definitely a pleasant change to get to be more creative. Plus, we understand that some trips simply require taking more things on the road.
