Common Problems with Airstream Trailer Repair in Dallas, TX

July 5, 2018

As an RV owner, unfortunately, it is hard to find a good shop that can specialize in the type of recreational vehicle repair you need. Those new to owning an Airstream Trailer can be left even more confused and frustrated because of their specifications. We established Coach Specialists of Texas after having poor experiences in trying to find repair shops for all things RV, Travel Trailer, motorhome, and Airstream related. While most of our clients know us for our specialized work in RV repair, not many know we can actually work on Airstream Trailers too.

The recreational vehicle community is pretty tight-knit and usually when you need help, if you just get on an RV forum, there is someone there who can talk about the same problems with airstream trailer repair you’re having. There’s often great advice on where to take your Airstream Trailer for repair in Dallas, TX. Conducting research online, as you’re doing now, is another great way to find a great shop like ours. But, before you commit to a shop, you should take some time to look at these common problems with Airstream Trailer Repair.

Common Problems with Airstream Trailer Repair in Dallas, TX

It doesn’t matter if you’re new to owning an Airstream or you’re on your 3rd. There can always be problems with your vehicle after you’ve started driving it. Especially if you’re an avid traveler who goes everywhere in their trailer. If you find yourself in need of a shop be aware of these:

1. Lack of Experience.

The first thing you’re going to want to look out for is a shop with reliable experience in all things Airstream and RV related. The types of repair on an Airstream trailer is vastly different than that of typical auto body repair. These trailers need larger bays to sit in while they’re worked on so if other body shops don’t have space, they just won’t do. Airstreams have housing components, electrical components, and special finishing on the outsides to give them that recognizable shine. It takes time and training to master the care these vehicles need.

2. Bad Customer Service.

Taking your Airstream trailer back to the dealership for repair and maintenance may be your first thought for convenience but it shouldn’t be your priority or first choice. Dealerships are always much nicer during the buying process, but the smiles fade soon after. Dealerships just aren’t happy to see you back for repairs. Airstream trailers are special beasts that require more time, more training, and more effort. If a shop isn’t treating you how you feel you should be treated, they probably aren’t worth your time or money.

3. Parts Limitation.

One of the most common problems with Airstream trailer repair we hear about is the lack of parts or equipment to handle the care for these vehicles. This type of work is highly specialized and it isn’t easy to get the parts you need like it is in auto body repair. Going to a shop who doesn’t specialize solely in RV and trailer repair probably isn’t your best bet. The technicians won’t have the know-how to get the job done correctly and you’ll soon be searching for more repair. Our shop is one of the only shops in Texas that only works on recreational vehicles. Our space is huge, large enough to fit multiple RVs. Coach repair people also receive and have years of specialized training experience in the RV repair industry.

4. Little to No Communication.

If something is wrong with your RV, you want to know the second it is discovered. That is the whole reason you take it into a shop. Too many RV repair shops just aren’t invested enough in your business to keep you updated every step of the way. A good shop will give you an itemized list of what your repair needs and consistently update you with any changes.

5. No Sense of Urgency.

When we look at common problems with Airstream trailer repair, one thing we always hear about is how the dealership took forever to get to a trailer. They already sold you your Airstream, so why should they rush to fix it for you? While that may be their mentality, it just shouldn’t happen. A lot of RV repair shops even will get too caught up in insurance work or are over capacity when your trailer comes in. Your Airstream could be sitting for days, even weeks! Not many Airstream owners can afford to go that long without their trailer as it becomes a second home almost.

Are You in Need of a Repair Shop for Airstream Trailers?

As RV enthusiasts ourselves, we know the challenges you’re up against. Maybe you just bought a new Airstream trailer or maybe you’re trying to take care of a vintage one. Either way, we know Airstreams are tough to care for and properly maintain. They probably set you back a pretty penny and we know you want to get every cent out of it. That is why we want to help.

As we mentioned earlier, we don’t just work on strictly RV, travel trailer, and motorhomes. Coach also specializes in Airstream trailers.
