Should Dallas Fort Worth RV Drivers Buy an Outdoor Kitchen?

As spring rolls along and the weather becomes more pleasant, more and more DFW RV owners are planning their next camping trips. Something that motorhome drivers like to do while camping, especially in Dallas-Fort Worth, is cook outside; however, cooking outside usually means having to constantly carry glasses and drinks from inside your RV out. This has led many of our customers to ask whether they should look into purchasing an outdoor kitchen. What are the benefits of owning an outdoor kitchen with a motorhome? We would like to dedicate some time in answering that question.

Is an Outdoor Kitchen for Me?

This is the main question everyone is asking, and the answer is quite simple – it depends. It depends on how you use your RV. If you are camping the majority of the time you use your coach, then an outdoor kitchen is a great option for you. Why?

  • Time saver – Owning an outdoor kitchen saves you so much time. Because the majority of outdoor kitchens come with an outdoor sink, you won’t have to waste time going in and out of your RV to clean dishes. The portable fridge also saves you time by having drinks right by the rest of the food.
  • More room to cook – Let’s face it: cooking inside of your coach tends to be a bit of a hassle. Some RV kitchens tend to be small, and even if you are lucky enough to have a bigger motorhome kitchen, there is no denying that the coach tends to get very hot while using the indoor oven. Also, cooking bacon, while delicious, tends to leave your coach smelling like bacon for days! Cooking outside solves all of those problems.
  • Enjoy the great outdoors – An outdoor kitchen that joins together items such as an oven, sink, fridge, and even television will allow you to spend more time outdoors enjoying nature, rather then spending the day cleaning or watching TV inside.

Does the Outdoor Kitchen have any Drawbacks?

We’d be lying if we said that there weren’t a few drawbacks that customers have complained about regarding the outdoor kitchen.

  • Storage space – Usually, an outdoor kitchen takes the place of a bunk space – sometimes even more. Some RV drivers with big families might prefer to hold on to that space rather than give it to the outdoor kitchen.
  • Fridge problems – Most portable fridges require electricity, which doesn’t serve much purpose if you are camping outside of a campsite with electricity. While many will allow you to charge them while driving, it certainly makes using the fridge a bit more a nuisance.
  • Height – A few of our customers have complained that their outdoor kitchen is simply too high off the ground for them to use. This is a more rare problem than the others; however, if you are experiencing it, make an appointment with us in order to help fix the situation.
