What are the Fastest Ways to Get My RV Hail Damage Repaired in Waco, Texas?

April 13, 2018

With April being only halfway finished, the United States has only just begun to see the awakening of spring. In just two weeks, this month has brought drastically different weather for this time of the year. Major snow, rain, and hail storms mixed with rapid changes in low and high temperatures can be a danger to your RV. Hail damage is no joke, and we at Coach Specialists know the harrowing feeling of walking outside to check your vehicle after a storm. That’s why the most recent hailstorms in Waco have us looking for the fastest ways to repair your RV and get it ready for your next road trip.

Fastest Ways to Get RV Hail Damage Repaired

Texas has some of the worst hailstorms in the United States, and this type of damage is one aspect of RV care that simply cannot be ignored. But what can you do once your RV has been hit by a hailstorm?

Document, Document, Document

The first thing you need to do is document everything. While you may want to get your RV into a repair shop immediately, you absolutely must write down the damage done, as well as the date and time of the hailstorm. Take pictures and notes of everything you notice. Even if you are not sure, get a second opinion and write it down for your insurance company. Not only will they appreciate the time you took being thorough, but you’ll also have all the documentation you need in the future should a problem arise. Notifying your insurance company is the best preliminary step in repairing your RV you can take to ensure your local repair shop can begin their work.

The Earlier, the Better

Once you have filed your claims, the best option for your RV is to take it to a repair shop immediately. Because this is Texas, the unpredictable weather could further worsen the damage already done by the initial hail storm. The longer you wait will not only hinder your claims with your insurance company, making it harder to file if another accident or storm hits your RV, but the current damage is likely the current damage.

Hailstorms can damage more of your RV than you think. The easiest damage to spot is clearly going to be any side window or windshield damage that’s left behind major cracks. But what about what you can’t see right away? Often time, larger hail may hit a window but it doesn’t just damage the glass pane. You should also be aware of window casings being loosened or damaged as well. The overall exterior of an RV receives the most damage. One of the fastest ways your RV will be repaired on schedule is to determine all of the damaged outside siding, lights, air vents, air condition units, skylights, and every other feature on the outside of your vehicle. Even the smallest pinhole created from the outside to the interior of your RV can bring deterioration to any wood and carpeting inside of your trailer.

Stick With a Repair Shop

One of the best ways to repair your damged RV is to visit a repair shop, not a dealership. This isn’t to say that RV dealerships are a bad choice – most likely they sold you your favorite RV. The big difference here, though, is that a dealership really is not as well-suited for the time, effort, and care fixing your RV requires. Repair shops, on the other hand, are the perfect place for fixing hail damage fast. The proof is in the name, “repair” shop. You wouldn’t take your dog to be groomed at a pet adoption center; you would take them to a grooming salon. Repair shops have professional employees with the know-how to take care of a marred RV. It is better to trust them with their proper buffing, welding and cutting tools needed to repair hail damage than yourself or a dealership salesman. It can also save you a lot of money.

Sticking With Professionals

We know the whole process of finding a great repair shop, especially local to Texas can be daunting. At Coach, taking care of RV’s is our favorite thing to do. And not only do we do our job with intense care and attention, we’re also fast. When an RV is brought in with extensive hail damage, we know it can be rough fixing a vehicle so large. However, we use specially designed bays with scaffolding, enabling us to reach the what is most likely the MOST damaged part of your RV – the roof.

Making sure your vehicle is repaired quickly and back to the way it was before a hailstorm is our main priority. We know you’ll be ready to take your RV back out on the road with the warmer weather appearing just around the corner. So, if you’re someone who has experienced hail damage to your RV in the last two months and are looking for the fastest repairs to get back on the road, consider bringing your RV into Coach Specialists for repairs and warranty work.
