Question: Will Coach Specialists Remodel My RV’s Bathroom In DFW, Texas?

“I really love my RV, but I’m not a huge fan of the bathroom layout. It’s pretty poorly configured in general, but the bathtub is way too short and I can barely fit in.

I want to upgrade it to a larger bathtub, but I’d have to get the existing bathtub drain moved to the opposite side of where it is now. The drain itself is also on the opposite side of the black water tank and where the grey water tank is. I’m hoping there’s some way to move it.

The tub I want to replace my current one with is 26” wide, but the sidewall of the RV to the edge of the toilet seat is 24” total. However, I have four-or-so inches of available space between the hallway inside, so it seems like the toilet could get moved over. Would it be possible for you all to install an elbow in that space to move the toilet over?

Is there anything that I’m not thinking of that could make it more difficult than it seems?”

Answer: Will Coach Specialists Remodel My RV’s Bathroom In DFW, Texas?

For us, moving the tub and plumbing isn’t a big deal. Our only real concern here involves moving the toilet. If the black water tank is only just a few inches under your floor, then the toilet can be relocated near the edge of the tank (since most toilets are connected at the center of the tank, you can move it around a couple of inches).

However, is this something you can do yourself? Or at least have a handyman do?

Very unlikely. It’s pretty challenging moving the toilet and will possibly require you to remove the black water tank, plugging up the old hole, and then creating a new one. It’s never really a good idea to use an elbow from your toilet in your RV since it doesn’t get the same type of water flow as your house would– meaning it would get clogged more often than not.

Whenever you begin to modify your RV, there’s a chance for damage and water leaks. Outside of that, there’s also a big risk in modifying the structure of your RV on your own. This is especially true if you don’t have experience working on an RV.

While you can customize your RV, it requires a specialist to safely get the job done and do it well.
