Fort Worth RV Repair: How much does it cost to replace a motorhome roof?

At Coach Specialists of Texas in Dallas, Fort Worth, Plano, and Denton, we tend to see a lot of motorhome roof damage during this time of year.  Now that the weather is nice, many RV enthusiasts are hitting the road, embarking on great adventures.  Unfortunately, this is also a time of year when tree branches are heavy with many leaves and are now hazardous to those of us driving large recreational vehicles.  When motorhome roof damage isn’t being caused by overhanging tree branches, it’s often caused by low-hanging outdoor signage, other overhead objects, hail damage from a raging summer storm, or even from owner neglect (unfortunately, many RV owners aren’t aware of how much maintenance their roofs require each year).

Have you recently experienced damage to your RV roof or has damage gradually happened over time?  If so, your RV might be looking a little worse for the wear and you might even be experiencing water leaks and other roof problems.  If you are worried about how much it might cost to replace your RV roof, here is some important information to keep in mind:

Full roof replacement might be preventable.
Depending on the extent of your RV’s roof damage, a Fort Worth RV repair shop might be able to repair your damage, instead of replacing the entire roof.  For instance, a minor roof leak might be easily repaired with debris removal, surface cleaning, and re-sealing.  A repair like this would cost very little compared to a full roof replacement.  However, if your damage is more extensive, it is often a better choice to replace your roof.  The reason for this is because the overall condition of your roof becomes compromised when it endures any kind of damage.  An RV repair shop might be able to repair the problem areas, but the quality and longevity of your repair will be reduced.  With a roof replacement, your motorhome will enjoy many more years of protection.

RV insurance may cover the cost of your roof replacement or repairs.
Because the cost of roof replacement depends on many factors, including the type of material your roof is made of and the size of your RV, it is difficult to provide an estimate without seeing the damage itself.  However, a base cost for RV roof replacement is around $5,000+.  Keep in mind that your RV insurance might cover the cost of the damage, unless owner neglect was the cause of the damage.  Water intrusion due to poor maintenance, in particular, is a common reason why roof replacement repair claims get denied.
