The top 5 most common RV repairs in Dallas and how much it costs to fix them

As an RV or motorhome owner, I’m sure that the last thing you want to deal with is the need for sudden repairs on your vehicle.  After all, many of us purchase these vehicles with the intention of traveling across the country, visiting our families, and experiencing places we’ve never seen before.  When your RV is damaged, of course you want to get back on the road as soon as possible.  If you’ve just experienced some damage to your motorhome or RV, or if you’re about to embark on a trip and just want to be prepared for what might happen, here are the 5 most common types of RV damage we repair at Coach Specialists of Texas.

Tire blowout
This happens to RVs and motorhomes at a surprising frequency, mostly due to the fact that these vehicles are on the road so often.  Sometimes this kind of damage is unavoidable, depending on the road and weather conditions, but definitely be sure to take every precaution you can when it comes to your tires.  Inspect them frequently for wear and make sure that they are inflated to the correct tire pressure.
Cost for repairs or replacements: $1,000 – $25,000

Water damage and leakage
Yet another major cause of damage to RVs and motorhomes is water intrusion.  Keep in mind that insurance doesn’t always cover water damage, since it often results from poor owner maintenance.  Be sure to stay on top of all maintenance procedures, including winterizing and sealing.
Cost: $800+ for water damage repair, $1,500+ for leakage repair

Exterior damage from scraping objects
Because RVs and motorhomes are so large, they can be challenging to maneuver and you might find yourself accidentally scraping trees, bridges, signposts, and more.  The best thing you can do is to slow down as much as possible when encountering any possibly damaging obstacles and be aware of the size of your particular vehicle.
Cost: $5,000+ for roof replacements, $500+ for side damage repair

Hail damage
Our travels lead us across all types of terrain and through every kind of weather, so another type of damage that’s common among RVs is hail damage.  Unfortunately, this is not usually avoidable, even with the best planning.  Try to avoid the path of any major thunderstorms, if you can.
Cost for repairs: $1,200 – $25,000

Air conditioner failures
We’ve experienced this problem ourselves and it can be very frustrating—especially when it’s high temperatures outside.  Try to inspect your air conditioning system frequently to ensure that it’s functioning properly.  That way you might prevent finding yourself in a bind when severe weather hits.
Cost for repairs: $1,000+
